What is a remix?
A remix is a mashup, blended, polymerisation (yu-gi-oh reference lol) of two or more texts which encompass an individual creative energy and originality.
Much like social media today, individuals create personas as a remix of themselves and this individual which they like to be perceived as.
Remix’s also take form in music such as dj’s creations, film productions and even online youtube videos which indeed are hilarious.
The remix culture is modernising as technology is becoming more so convergent and advanced. The reason for this culture is for artists to express their originality and creativeness while being inspired from an other work. It brings about the question of, what truly is originality in our society today.

First of all I don’t know whether to be proud that I understood the Yu-gi-oh reference or embarrassed that I remember. Your explanation is brilliant really, the whole concept of remix culture finally made sense to me (literally read it was I was like “OH! I get it now!”) My only issue is the first YouTube link isn’t working!! Bedsides that your second video is great! Love how you included the process of how you remixed the two songs together. I remember you commenting on my glitch art post about adding in the process, so it’s good to see how you were able to incorporate it into your own video! First off I really loved your explanation of remix culture. You helped further my understanding of what remix culture really is with your really clear explanation with some great examples!! I also love the idea that you made an attempt to make a remix yourself and for it being your first one, I think you did a rather brilliant job. I really enjoyed this post! it is great that you experimented with content relevant to the topic, it provides great insight for further understanding of the platform! The idea of originality is really crucial when deciding whether sampling is genius of a representation of society lacking inspiration!
